Flamingo Beach Resort.

Once upon a time, I went on a trip to St. Maarten/St. Martin and fell in love. So I bought a timeshare. And, lucky for you, I can't always stay there.

If you're looking for a wonderful vacation spot for your honeymoon or your family and want to escape the winter, you'll love Flamingo Beach Resort.

My unit is studio located directly on the ocean and facing the western sky of the Caribbean. Four people can sleep privately in two areas of this unit. There is a sliding wall between the bedroom (with a luxurious king-sized bed) and the living room with a fold-out sofa bed.

The unit features a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, utensils and plenty of cabinets and counter space. So you don't have to spend all your money eating out for every meal. Although, you can if you want - there are plenty of amazing restaurants in nearby the nearby towns.

You can also enjoy the on-site Pelican casino, snorkeling or the beautiful waterfall pool overlooking the ocean.

Flamingo Beach Resort is right on a beautiful stretch of white sand beach on Pelican Key Peninsula. Sint Maarten/Saint Martin is the beautiful half-Dutch/half-French island on the east end of the Caribbean Virgin Islands. Our timeshare is located on the Dutch side of the island known as Netherlands Antilles. The Dutch capital, Philipsburg has nightlife, duty-free shopping, and casinos while French Marigot offers fine French cuisine, chic galleries, an open air market and fine bakeries. They all offer fantastic beaches. There is so much to do: hiking, biking, snorkelling, scuba diving, boating, fishing, shopping, gambling or just hanging out on one of the nude beaches on the island.

My favourite things to do:

  • Happy hour drinks at Flamingo's onsite beach bar, Topper's By the Sea while I watch the sunset
  • Souvenir shopping at the local market in Marigot
  • Shopping for (cheap!) jewelry in Phillipsburg
  • Picking up French pastries at La Sucriere, the nearby bakery, before heading out to my favourite beach, Baie Longue, for crashing about in the waves
  • Drinking my morning tea while writing in my journal and watching the waves crash on the rocks on the east side of the hotel
  • Stretching out to read on the sand on the beach at Flamingo, going for a dip in the protected swimming area when I get hot and drying off with my homemade drink my husband just brought me from my room
  • Midnight dip at the Flamingo beach
  • Drive to Grand Case for a fancy French dinner at Tastevin for the tasting menu
  • Take the ferry over to Pinel Island for a day of snorkeling and basking in the sun and white sand
  • Hiking the impossibly gorgeous north coast to Petite Cayes.

Everyone I've ever rented to has come back with amazing stories of the good time they had. I think it's paradise.
