<!-- dad -->

The most polar opposite to my mom; I'm not sure HOW they manage to get along.

My dad is quite shy, careful and analytical. He really thinks about things and is one of the smartest people I know. Even when I don't agree with him, he always has interesting opinions, and can argue a point. He loves to argue. And I love our discussions.

He is a great listener, which makes him the best person I know to talk to. He knows when to just nod and he knows just when to catch me off guard with an insightful comment. I always feel better after talking to him.

He enjoys all the simple things in life: his family, his garden, reading, video-geeking... you know, the usual. He's a chicken farmer, a soccer ref, was a soccer and hockey coach when my brothers were young and still loves watching Hockey Night in Canada with my brothers and a big bowl of popcorn.

He "hates" (read: pretends to hate) kids, cats and most other things. But that just makes it all the more meaningful when he praises you. I've spent much of my life striving for those moments.

He inspires me with his ability to be content and find peace. I wish I knew his secret. He has also inspired my moral sense. I think he can be quite proud of that.

Favourite Moments: opening his christmas present every year. A phone conversation years ago in university that touched me so much I cried; I don't know if he knows that.

Sad part: refuses to wear new clothes. His old ones are just fine, thanks.

If you have a comment about my dad, or want to tell me about yours, email me.
