<-- my life, by webgoddesscathy --> :: Thursday, September 09, 2004 :: Conversation at work: that Canadians are more receptive to UK accents than Americans. Supporting point: in American movies, people with accents are usually bad guys. I brought up Arnold Schwarzenegger and they dismissed me: he can't help it. What about Pierce Brosnan? Well, he was James Bond and that's a British-related film. Mike Myers as Austin Powers? Based on James Bond. "And, on the other hand, he has really bad teeth." Do you have an example of an American movie that uses a character who has an accent who is NOT the bad guy? :: Cathy 9:02 AM [+] :: 2 comments ::Comments:: are you talking about serious movies? action and drama movies? cos if not, then you have a prime example of a good guy in the film 'mickey blue eyes' starring none other than hugh grant. # posted by sarah : 2:04 PM Sarah makes a very good point. I have a very guilty crush on Hugh Grant. I mean, I know it's cheesey, but I actually like him. He's not my boyfriend, but I enjoy him in movies, although I haven't seen "Mickey Blue Eyes". I'll bring that up at work tomorrow and see what they have to say about it. # posted by Cathy : 10:42 PM Post a Comment |
